Prague, July 17 (CTK) - Top Czech tennis players Radek Stepanek, 31, and Nicole Vaidisova, 21, got married in the St Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle Saturday.

Vaidisova arrived at the castle in a luxurious white Rolls-Royce, Stepanek came in black limousine BMW.

The two players have been partners for nearly three years. They are based in Florida at present.

Stepanek said he and Vaidisova wanted to get married in Prague because the city was their home and they would like to live here.

The wedding ceremony was attended by four dozens of guests, including legendary Czech hockey forward Jaromir Jagr (now Avantgard Omsk) and football goalkeeper Petr Cech (Chelsea).

Vaidisova was the best woman in Czech tennis until recently in the past. Her best was the 7th position in world tennis according to WTA. She ended her professional career in the spring after playing a series of bad games.

Stepanek is the second best Czech tennis player. The best current Czech player among men is Tomas Berdych (ATP - number 8).

In spring when Stepanek was number 18 in world standings, he interrupted his career because he suffered from fatigue syndrome and he has recently been preparing to return to world tennis. Two years ago, Stepanek was the world's eighth player in ATP standings.

Marriages of famous Czech athletes are nothing exceptional. The most legendary couple seems to be Emil Zatopek (long distance run) and Dana Zatopkova (javelin).

World champion gymnast Vera Caslavska and middle distance runner Josef Odlozil got married during the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968, closely watched by the world media then.
